A naked man was found floating at Hac Sa Beach in Coloane by an on-duty security guard on Sunday night, according to a statement by the Judiciary Police (PJ) yesterday morning.
The statement by PJ spokesman Chan Wun Man identified the body as a non-local middle-aged victim.
According to the statement, the Judiciary Police received separate calls from the Macau Customs Service (SA), the Public Security Police (PSP) and the public Conde de São Januário Hospital Centre at about 8:25 p.m. on Sunday, reporting that a security guard at Hac Sa Beach had found a naked, unresponsive man floating near the shore at about 7:50 p.m. on that day, adding that the man was rushed to the hospital where he was pronounced dead after emergency treatment to save his life had failed.
The statement said that the Judiciary Police carried out an investigation at the beach opposite the barbecue area, where PJ officers found clothing suspected of belonging to the victim on the beach.
Upon preliminary examination of the body, no injuries involving possible criminal offences were found on the surface of the body, the statement noted.
The actual cause of death has yet to be confirmed by a forensic examination, according to the statement, which noted that the Judiciary Police have initially classified the case as a dead body found.
