Lawmaker-cum-unionist Jose Pereira Coutinho said yesterday a protest march against a steep rise in illegal parking fines and other vehicle-related charges would be held on Sunday afternoon starting in Praça do Tap Seac and ending outside Government Headquarters in Nam Van.

Coutinho made the remarks during a press conference at the headquarters of the Macau Civil Servants Association (ATFPM), which several dozen ATFPM members also attended.

The veteran lawmaker said that his association was supporting the protest march by “outraged citizens” against the “exaggerated fines”. He also said the association, which he chairs, would support the march by providing it with the necessary “software and hardware”.
