Local organisation MyLand Culture* is curating a 16-piece custom art installation entitled “Airship Orchestra” at One Central Macau throughout May, a female representative of the organisation recently told the Post.
The representative noted that the art installation, created by ENESS, a Melbourne-based art and technology company founded in 1997, consists of six characters named Blobby, Bun, The Bunny, Mozart, Panda, Ripple and Tree, with a total of 16 variations. These characters representing a mystical otherworldly tribe, as well as the “Airship Orchestra”, she noted, have been touring the World since 2019.
The representative pointed out that the 16 inflatables, with some reaching up to six metres in height, spread across a 500 square metre area, offering visitors a unique sound experience within its own spatial environment.
The representative noted that the “Airship Orchestra” is filled with air and incorporates glowing lights, blinking LED eyes, and robotic music players within the installations. She added that the generative soundscape is also synchronised with the lighting effects.
“These elements are designed to sense when people approach and activate different lights and music. When multiple installations start playing music simultaneously, they create the harmonious effect of an orchestra,” she said.
She noted that nowadays installation art is more focused on providing opportunities for people to take pictures and interact with the artwork. While these installations are typically placed together outdoors, in this instance, they are separated and located at different spots in One Central. “Placing them indoors ensures their safety, but adjustments need to be made to the music volume and the lighting effects may appear different,” she said, adding that her team’s main task is to manage these adjustments effectively.
