A woman from the mainland has been arrested for stealing cosmetics from a local shop, Public Security Police (PSP) spokeswoman Lai In Hong said at a regular press conference yesterday.
The suspect surnamed Deng is in her forties. She told the police that she’s jobless
According to Lai, in January the police received a report from a shop on Rua Va Tai saying that cosmetics worth 729 patacas had been stolen from the premises.
With the help of CCTV footage, the police identified the suspect and arrested Deng when she re-entered Macau through the Barrier Gate checkpoint on Friday. Deng admitted to the police that she had bought some items at the shop that day, but also took the cosmetics without paying. She said that greed was the motive for her shoplifting.
Deng has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing a theft charge, according to Lai.
