A local man has been arrested for blackmailing his ex-girlfriend in an attempt to rekindle their relationship by threatening to release their intimate videos, according to Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Cheong Kim Fong during a press conference yesterday.
The suspect was identified as a 29-year-old room attendant surnamed Chan.
Cheong noted that after the couple broke up earlier this year, Chan began blackmailing his ex-girlfriend to get back together by making various threats.
Among the threats, Chan told the victim he would pour acid on her and release videos of them having sex. The victim reported to police that Chan had also accessed her phone without consent.
On Saturday, the Judiciary Police apprehended Chan at his workplace in Cotai. Police officers found several intimate videos of Chan and the victim stored on his phone.
Chan faces extortion and invasion of privacy charges and has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP).
