Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) President Leong Wai Man told reporters yesterday that her bureau will collaborate with three integrated resort (IR) operators to hold the first Macau International Children’s Art Festival in July and August.

Leong made the remarks at a press conference after a meeting of the Cultural Development Committee.

Leong said that the Macau International Children’s Arts Festival will invite local groups and groups from all over the world to perform, adding that stage performances, film exhibitions, art exhibitions, book fairs, large-scale outdoor installations, art camps, workshops and art carnivals will also be held at the Macao Cultural Centre (CCM) and its square and Art Museum.

Leong said that committee members agreed that the festival would help enrich cultural and artistic parent-child activities in Macau, adding that it would have a positive impact on developing Macau’s cultural image while also being an attraction for locals and tourists alike.

The meeting also gave further details about Macau’s application for the 2025 “East Asian Cultural Capital” competition, pointing out that Macau was one of the six finalists, and that Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Elsie Ao Ieong U will lead a delegation to participate in the final evaluation held in Beijing. The results of the city contest will be announced in due course, she said.
