A government-drafted bill proposes that entities or individuals “designated” by the chief executive as being involved in terrorism should have the right to appeal to the local courts over their frozen assets in Macau, lawmaker Kwan Tsui Hang, who chairs the legislature’s 1st Standing Committee, said yesterday.
Kwan, a vice chairwoman of the Macau Federation of Trade Unions (commonly known as Gung Luen), made the remarks after presiding over a meeting of the committee about the bill on the freezing of terrorism-related assets.
The legislature approved the bill’s outline in March. The bill aims to ensure that Macau acts in line with the UN Security Council’s anti-terrorism resolutions.
