Macao University of Tourism (UTM) students in the Hotel Management degree programme recently took on an industrial project to develop business strategies for a high-tech company, according to a statement from the public university earlier this week.

The statement noted that the project was part of the students’ Entrepreneurship course, which is run by Fernando Lourenço, who aims to “create significant learning opportunities for students, allowing them to engage in real-world business scenarios”.

The students, the statement said, undertook the project with Robi3 Robotics founder Judy Wong (黃穎心) in conjunction with Merit Smart Technology, aiming to research and develop “applications for the company’s latest hologram and interactive projection technologies, specifically for the tourism and hospitality sectors in Macau”.

The project focused on identifying potential business opportunities for these technologies with major hotel operators, and aimed to “enhance tourist experiences and meet the hospitality industry’s needs”, the statement noted.

Market research findings and industry analysis reports were presented after the project was completed; potential business opportunities were also identified. Viable business models were also proposed for Robi3 Robotics, according to the statement.
