The police have arrested a female Mongolian duo for theft, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Cheong Heon Fan said during a regular press conference yesterday.

The suspects, in their forties and fifties, are surnamed Ichinkhorloo and Vyedro. Ichinkhorloo told the police that she’s jobless, while Vyedro said that she works in the garment industry.

According to Cheong, a staff member of a cosmetic shop in a Cotai shopping mall reported to the police on Saturday that during stock taking earlier that day, she discovered a box of face cream worth 3,200 patacas was missing and suspected it had been stolen.

After reviewing the shopping mall’s CCTV footage, security guards intercepted the suspects in the shopping mall, and the police who arrived at the scene arrested the duo.

Under questioning, Vyedro admitted to committing the crime and told the police that she had stolen the product while Ichinkhorloo acted as a lookout. However, Ichinkhorloo denied the accusation, claiming she was not involved in the crime.  The stolen cream as well as a screwdriver and a magnet were found in Vyedro’s luggage.

The duo have been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing theft charges, according to Cheong.
