Macau’s first and only Waso Cafe branch is slated to have its grand opening at Galaxy Macau on September 24, the integrated resort (IR) operator said in a statement on Wednesday.
The Macau branch is currently operating its soft opening. The upcoming grand opening is set to be attended by celebrities Pakho Chau Pak-ho, Venus Wong Man-yik and Stephanie Cheng (鄭融), according to the statement.
A “legendary cha chaan teng”, the statement said that Hong Kong’s Waso Cafe is renowned for being frequented by stars from the mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan to sample its signature dishes. The original restaurant is located in Yuen Long in Hong Kong, the statement noted.
Among Waso Café’s signature dishes are “Macaroni in Tomato Soup with Pork Chop and Chicken Wings” and “Hong Kong Style Milk Tea”, as well as classics such as the “Waso Soft Bun with Cheese, Corned Beef and Egg”, the statement added. A combo of the “Waso Signature Pineapple Bun” and “Hong Kong Style Milk Tea” has also proved popular, gaining fame across Hong Kong and selling over 600 buns a day at the café’s Tsim Sha Tsui branch, the statement said.
The statement added that the Macau branch is also set to introduce dishes that incorporate Portuguese cuisine elements such as the “Tossed Noodles with Portuguese Style Minced Pork”, “Pork Chop and Spicy Sardine in Pineapple Bun” and “Foie Gras, Beef and Egg with Rice Noodles in Tomato Soup”.
The Macau branch’s interior design is based on the concept of Hong Kong’s traditional “tea stalls”, the statement said.
The restaurant is located on the integrated resort’s ground floor near the Banyan Tree Macau in Cotai. More details can be found on website www.galaxymacau.com or by following the integrated resort’s respective social media pages.
