Gongbei customs seizes toys smuggled by car

Zhuhai’s Gongbei Customs announced yesterday that its officers have caught a Macau driver attempting to smuggle a large number of toys from Macau to the mainland.

According to Gongbei Customs, the case was busted last Thursday, when Gongbei Customs officers at the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge (HZMB) checkpoint discovered an abnormality in a single-licence plated vehicle at a vehicle inspection channel.

Upon further inspection, the customs officers seized a total of 591 plush toys, 57.6 kilos of mystery toy boxes, 52.3 kilos capsule toys and 73.7 kilos of small plastic toys in the vehicle’s boot and behind the second row of the seats, which were inside in a number of black plastic bags.

Gongbei Customs officers have impounded the toys.

Gongbei Customs reminded the public that mainland residents should take the initiative to report if they carry items worth more than 5,000 yuan when entering the mainland, and that non-resident border-crossers should declare if they carry items with a total value of more than 2,000 yuan.
