Applications for the 2024 Film Arts Training Programme are now open for Macau residents, with those chosen able to have the opportunity to learn more about film arts under veteran Hong Kong art director Lui Cho Hung, the Cultural Affairs Bureau (IC) said in a statement yesterday.

Chosen candidates will receive over 60 hours of professional guidance over 12 days from July to September “to enhance their basic knowledge and application of film arts”, according to the statement. They will then produce a short film in groups, with winners of the “Best Art Direction” award to receive a certificate and prize in the amount of 50,000 patacas. Aside from being permanent residents, applicants must be aged at least 18. The minimum education background is high school graduation.

Lui, who is also the Hong Kong Film Arts Association’s vice-chairman, has been involved in film productions such as the second and third “Infernal Affairs” films and “Painted Skin”, while he has won “Best Art Direction” at both the 23rd and 41st Hong Kong Film Awards for “The Twins Effect” and “Where the Wind Blows” respectively.

The programme is organised by the bureau in conjunction with integrated resort operator Wynn Macau. Application submissions can be made until June 26, with rules and forms available on www.icm.gov.mo and www.macaucci.gov.mo. Enquiries can be made by calling IC representatives Mr Kuan or Mr Chong on 8399 6295 or 8399 6256.
