The Chinese Cultural Exchange Association (CCEA) launched a “The Best of Macao” series of activities yesterday, with the aim of discovering and further promoting the hidden “beauty of Macau” beyond the attractions and food that local people are familiar with, CCEA President Steven Lei Pui Lam said yesterday.

Lei made the remarks during a launching ceremony of the event yesterday at the Macao Science Centre (MSC) in Nape, with the attendance of the event’s Organising Committee’s expert convenor and ex-lawmaker Agnes Lam Iok Fong, as well as student and teacher representatives from local high schools.

A total of 25 items were selected that can reflect the “Beautiful People”, “Beautiful Events”, “Beautiful Stories”, “Beautiful Sceneries”, and “Beautiful Food” of Macau, where students from 25 high schools will compete in creating videos to promote one of the 25 items.

According to Lei, “Beautiful People” refer to people who have had a significant impact on Macau’s development in history; “Beautiful Events” refer to festivals that demonstrate Macau’s multiculturalism; “Beautiful Stories” refer to stories about Macau that are worth telling; “Beautiful Sceneries” refer to streets and scenery that are unique to Macau, in addition to Macau’s eight major attractions and the World Heritage sites, while “Beautiful Food” refers to special cuisines that showcase the distinctive flavours of Macau.

The videos created by the students will be shown in October, and they will also be shown on the association’s social media platforms, and the Facebook pages of each participating school.
