Sands Lifestyle hosted a complimentary 60-minute yoga class on Saturday morning at The Parisian Macao in Cotai, which gave its 140 participants an opportunity to “move their bodies and calm their minds in a unique setting”, Sands Resorts Macao said in a statement yesterday.
The “Sunrise Flow” class, which was held on The Lawn of the integrated resort, marked the first time that Sands Lifestyle hosted a yoga class and was organised in conjunction with local and Hong Kong yoga studio Yoga Light, the statement noted. The Hatha Yoga*-inspired class was led by five expert yoga teachers.
The class was organised to coincide with the 10th International Yoga Day that is celebrated on June 21 every year. The annual International Yoga Day is the brainchild of India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Health and wellness is one of Sands Lifestyle’s core pillars, and this was its first wellness initiative designed for the community”, the statement said.
Sands China Ltd. Health and Wellness Executive Director Mariana de Oliveira Dias was quoted by the statement as saying: “Seeing the yoga community, wellness enthusiasts, health advocates, and the curious, gathering at our stunning venue to celebrate this ancient modality was truly remarkable”.
Oliveira Dias added: “The event was a great success with all participants fully engaged and enthusiastic to come together to positively influence the physical, mental, social and environmental wellbeing of our community.”
Yoga means “union” in Sanskrit.
