A clip of a Public Security Police (PSP) officer chasing a woman and grabbing her hair at Hengqin border checkpoint was circulating online yesterday, and a PSP statement said that the way the police officer handled the incident was “inappropriate”, and that they will launch an investigation into the incident.
Yesterday’s statement noted that the investigation will look into the circumstances leading up to and following the incident, and if any irregularities are found, the officer will be dealt with in accordance with the law.
According to the statement, while the PSP officer was stopping a fight at a taxi rank at the Macau side of the Hengqin checkpoint at noon yesterday, the woman shown on the video clip took the opportunity to flee the scene and, therefore, the officer immediately pursued and intercepted her. The statement pointed out that in order to prevent the woman from running away, the officer grabbed her by the hair.
