The Municipal Affairs Bureau (IAM) urged the public in a statement on Saturday not to feed babies three batches of made-in-Japan baby biscuits named “Manna BOLO”, which may be contaminated with animal faeces.
The statement did not say whether the products of the problematic batch are being sold in Macau.
According to the statement, the bureau was informed by the Centre for Food Safety of Hong Kong and Consumer Affairs Agency of Japan about the problematic foodstuff – a 36-gram baby biscuit product named “Manna BOLO <Plain>”, batch number 4902888973154, a 31-gram baby biscuit product named “Manna BOLO <Vegetable>”, batch number 4902888973161, and a 34-gram baby biscuit product named “Manna BOLO”, batch number 4902888227868, all under the brand of “Morinaga”.
The bureau immediately issued an alert to the local food trade and dispatched officials to inspect the market, and urged consumers to stop feeding their babies the product at once if they are in possession of it.
Anyone who has food-related enquiries may call IAM’s Food Safety Hotline on 2833 8181.
