The Public Security Police (PSP) arrested a local man in his thirties last Wednesday for allegedly sexually harassing a local woman by patting her buttocks in the street, PSP spokesman Lei Chan Hong said at a regular press conference yesterday.

The victim in her thirties reported the case to the Public Security Police on June 23, saying that she had been patted on the buttocks from behind when she was walking along Avenida Norte do Hipódromo, adding that she immediately turned around and grabbed the man behind her, but the man then left the scene, after apologising.

According to Lei, the Public Security Police made use of their citywide CCTV surveillance system and identified the suspect surnamed Si, who was arrested last Wednesday in the vicinity where the alleged incident occurred.

Under questioning, Si, who told the police that he works as a clerk, denied committing the offence.

Lei noted that the Public Security Police have transferred Si to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) for further investigation, where he faces a sexual harassment charge.
