Korean Air’s inaugural flight between Seoul and Macau reached Macau at midnight on Monday, with the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) welcoming passengers, which included South Korean media delegates, at the local airport, MGTO said in a statement yesterday.

According to the statement, the media delegation comprises 17 representatives of “leading and influential” South Korean media. They are divided into two delegations, the first of which arrived on Monday at midnight and are in Macau until tomorrow, while the second group will be in Macau from next Monday to Thursday.

The statement noted that their fact-finding trip’s itinerary includes a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Historic Centre of Macau and sampling culinary delights.

Meanwhile, MGTO and Korean Air are jointly presenting special air ticket offers, while a promotional campaign that includes promotions on Korean Air’s website, app and social media platforms, is also being carried out, according to the statement. South Korean key opinion leaders (KOLs) have also been invited to film in Macau, while delegations can participate in arranged tours.

The statement added that starting in September, Korean Air will launch an indirect air service from Macau to Lisbon via Seoul.

According to the statement, South Korea ranks as Macau’s top foreign visitor market and the fourth largest visitor market overall, according to visitor arrival figures from January to May.
