A Vietnamese man was caught red-handed by Public Security Police (PSP) officers on duty in Iao Hon district on Wednesday taking ice, according to a regular police press conference on Friday.
The non-resident worker (NRW) in his thirties, surnamed Le, who is employed as a cleaner in Macau, has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), where he faces drug-taking and possession of drug-taking paraphernalia charges.
The incident happened on Wednesday morning when PSP officers intercepted Le when they were patrolling in Iao Hon, in whose trouser pocket they found a box containing a glass vessel appearing to contain a small amount of crystal methamphetamine (aka ice) and a plastic bottle with a straw inserted, a PSP spokesperson said during the press conference.
Under questioning, Le admitted that he bought the drug from a Filipino for 500 patacas last Sunday evening in the Avenida de Almeida Ribeiro area for his own use, adding that he only smoked the drug with the glass vessel around midnight on Wednesday, the press conference noted.
Le tested positive for ice.
