A patriotic short video creation and display event was launched on Friday, with the aim of encouraging Macau’s young people to produce videos with creativity, moving stories and a strong sense of technology, in order to showcase the vitality of the “One Country, Two Systems” principle, China Media Group (CMG) Vice President Wang Xiaozhen said during the event.

Wang made the remarks during the event’s launching ceremony-cum-press conference held at Macao Polytechnic University (MPU), adding that the event aims to enable audiences at home and abroad to understand Macau’s prosperous development, and further inspire Macau residents to love their country and their special administrative region.

The event, entitled “Lotus Flower in the Age of Prosperity, Creating the Future (蓮開盛世 · 創見未來)” was jointly organised by CMG, the Education and Youth Development Bureau (DSEDJ) and local public broadcaster TDM.

The event will be divided into two phases: a call for entries till October 31, and an exhibition period from November 1 to December 31. The outstanding entries will be shown on mainstream media platforms in Hong Kong and Macau, including China Central Television (CCTV) and TDM.

Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Elsie Ao Ieong U said during the ceremony that the activity aims to express the most unique and real ideas on the social development of Macau through young people’s perspective in a way that is popular with them, and also to present Macau’s achievements in the past 25 years since its return to the motherland to the audiences at home and abroad through CMG.

In addition, the CMG Asia-Pacific General Station and MPU signed a cooperation agreement during the ceremony. Ao Ieong said she believed that the cooperation agreement between CMG and MPU will better promote international news and communication research for Portuguese-speaking countries, joint training of Chinese and Portuguese communication talents, and jointly build Macau into a platform for international communication in the Portuguese language.
