The Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) announced in a statement yesterday that according to its provisional data, Macau recorded 16.7 million visitor arrivals during the first half of the year, a year-on-year increase of 43.6 percent, returning to 82.5 percent of the level recorded in the same period of pre-pandemic 2019.
The average daily number of visitor arrivals during the first six months of this year stood at 91,918, the statement noted.
The statement said that during the first half of this year, Macau recorded nearly 1.17 million foreign visitor arrivals, a year-on-year increase of 146.4 percent, returning to 67.2 percent of the level recorded in the same period of 2019.
The daily average number of foreign visitor arrivals between January and June 2024 stood at 6,425, the statement said.
The statement also said that the number of visitor arrivals recorded during the first half of the year “met MGTO expectations”.
The Statistics and Census Bureau (DSEC) is scheduled to announce on Friday the official data on visitor arrivals recorded during the first six months of this year.
