The works of local photographer and National Geographic Photo Contest winner António Leong (梁舜堯) are currently on display on the ground floor of the Macao Catholic Culture Association (ACCM) on Rua Formosa, showcasing the Catholic cultural elements of Macau’s UNESCO World Heritage-listed Historic Centre.

Entitled Via Pulchritudinis: Macao’s Catholic World Heritage Photo Exhibition, the free-admission exhibition is on until July 28, according to a recent statement by the association.

A statement displayed at the exhibition venue translates the Latin term “Via Pulchritudinis” as “The Way of Beauty”.

A photobook of the same title was also launched last Thursday alongside the exhibition that covers two years of the photographer’s work, the statement said.

Through the photographs showcased, both readers of the book and exhibitiongoers can “view the ‘Cidade do Nome de Deus’ that has existed for more than four centuries, and experience the unique cultural charm of Macau derived from Catholic culture”, the statement noted.

Moreover, in Leong’s remarks during the exhibition’s launch last week, said he hoped that people could slow down and rediscover this culturally diversified and historical city, as well as experience Macau’s “way of beauty”, according to the statement.

Aside from the exhibition, workshops led by Leong will also see participants visit several Catholic churches in Macau and exchange experiences in photography. The first session was held on July 13, while one more is slated to take place this Saturday.

The exhibition is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. One can visit www.macaucca.org for more details/

“Cidade do Nome de Deus” is Portuguese for “City in the Name of God”.
