Macau's observatory has issued the Standby Signal No.1 this morning
Standby Signal No.1 warns that a tropical cyclone is centred within 800 km of Macau and that Macau may be affected by it, according to the observatory's tropical cyclone warning signal system.
According to a statement by the Macau Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG), the signal will "remain in force today". The bureau also said there was a "medium" probability that the Signal No.3 be hoisted tomorrow.

The weather station noted that a tropical depression over the central part of the South China Sea is expected to further develop in the next few days and is forecast to move north-northwest towards the area between the western coast of Guangdong Province and Hainan Province. "According to the latest track forecast, it will pass over 300 km southweast of Macau on Monday," the statement said.
Macau has a five-level tropical cyclone warning system - No.s 1, 3, 8, 9, 10, the latter warning that the centre of a typhoon is forecast to strike the immediate approaches of Macau.
Meanewhile, the observatory has also issued a hot weather alert. At 2:30 p.m., the mercury stood at 31 degrees Celsius.
