The University of Macau (UM) said in a statement yesterday that its Institute of Applied Physics and Materials Engineering’s (IAPME) Assistant Professor Sun Pengzhan has recently been named as one of the 35 Innovators Under 35 for China (TR35 China).
The statement noted that since 1999, the MIT [Massachusetts Institute of Technology] Technology Review has annually selected a group of young leaders under 35 who are “the most innovative and influential” in the technology field, forming the “35 Innovators Under 35’ list”. The magazine launched the “35 Innovators Under 35” for China in collaboration with DeepTech in 2017 to “identify and recognise the innovative forces in China’s emerging technology fields”.
Sun, who has won multiple awards and has had his findings published in leading scientific journals, received the recognition during the Meet 35 Summit 2024 and the MIT Technology Review 35 Innovators Under 35 China Award Ceremony hosted by MIT Technology Review in collaboration with DeepTech, the statement said.
Sun was chosen for his “dedication to the precise construction of atomic-scale confinement channels and the experimental elucidation of the mechanisms and novel phenomena of mass transport processes therein, as well as the application of the new membrane separation technology he has developed to solve common separation problems”, according to the statement.
