The M8 mall in the city centre is slated to have its soft opening next month, set to offer more shopping and dining options to members of the public.

The mall is a short walk up Travessa do Roquete from Largo do Senado and was the former living quarters of Macau Post Office staff. It is the first urban renewal initiative invested, constructed and operated by China State Construction Engineering (Macau) Co. Ltd., according to a recent statement by the group.

The statement noted that the “M” in M8 stands for “Macau”, while the “8” denotes “its location within 8 percent of Macau’s original land, surrounded by eight world heritage sites within a hundred-metre radius”.

The mall holds the Guinness World Record for the “Largest Curved Stone-Laminated Glass”, which it set in June last year, while it has also garnered several awards prior to opening, the statement added. Its anchor tenant is luxury products travel retailer DFS, which the statement said is set to offer products from more than 120 local and international brands across over three floors.

The mall will also house the city’s first Mango Tree, Modern Shanghai Imperial and Terrace in Seaside restaurants, which are from Thailand, Hong Kong and Incheon, South Korea, respectively, according to the statement.
