The Judiciary Police (PJ) announced in a statement yesterday that a young local woman committed suicide in a public toilet yesterday.
According to the statement, the Judiciary Police were notified by the Public Security Police (PSP) in Coloane at 10:05 a.m. about a woman who had collapsed on the floor of a toilet cubicle in A-Ma Cultural Village.
The statement noted that a female cleaning worker could not open the door of a toilet cubicle at 9:10 a.m., and she called for assistance, after which firefighters arrived at the scene and confirmed the death of the woman.
A preliminary examination of the body showed that a small amount of foam was found around the mouth of the deceased, but, apart from that, no suspicious or possible criminal-induced injuries were found on the deceased, the statement said.
The statement also said that a packet and a bottle of water were found in the toilet with the deceased. According to preliminary investigation, the woman may have committed suicide by taking drugs.
No suicide note was found at the scene.
The exact cause of death is pending the outcome of a forensic examination.
Woman burns charcoal at home
A local woman was found dead yesterday near a bowl containing charcoal ashes in a flat in Avenida do Hipódromo, the Judiciary Police (PJ) said in a statement yesterday.
According to the statement, the Judiciary Police were notified of the death by the Fire Services Bureau (CB) at 5:30 p.m. yesterday, noting that the building’s management staff noticed a foul odour emanating from a flat, and after the firefighters opened the door of the flat, they found a woman they suspected of having committed suicide by burning charcoal.
The deceased was found lying on her back on a sofa bed in the bedroom of her flat and a stainless-steel bowl containing the ashes of charcoal was found.
A preliminary investigation at the scene and examination of the body showed, according to the statement, that no suspicious or possibly criminal-induced injuries were found on the deceased.
No suicide note was found at the scene.
The exact cause of death is pending the outcome of a forensic examination.
Initially, the case had been classified as a dead body found.
