Macau’s observatory has hoisted Strong Wind Signal No.3 (T3) at 11 p.m. today.
According to a statement by the Macau Meteorological and Geophysical Bureau (SMG), T3 is expected to remain hoisted at least until dawn.
The bureau said that winds were expected to strengthen gradually. It urged motorists to pay close attention to traffic safety, adding that motorcyclists should travel between Macau Peninsula and Taipa Island through the motorcycle lanes on Sai Van Bridge or Macau Bridge, i.e., two of Macau’s four bridges between the peninsula and the island.
The observatory also said that winds with a sustained speed of 41 to 62 km/h were expected or blowing, while gust may exceed 110 km/h in Macau.
According to the statement, at 11 p.m., Super Typhoon Yinxing was moving west, across the northern part of the South China Sea. “According to the latest forecast track, Yinxing is expected to pass about 300 kilometers south of Macau between tonight and tomorrow morning, maintaining the intensity of a strong typhoon.”
The weather station also said that the probability of hoisting Typhoon Signal No.8 was “low”.
