A local doctor in his sixties was arrested yesterday for owning an unregistered pistol, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Lei Kai Sang said.
Lei announced the arrest during a regular press briefing. According to Lei, the suspect, surnamed Lou, is a doctor who owns a clinic in Areia Preta.
Lei said Lou realised he had lost a handgun and 25 bullets when he was preparing to renew its licence last month. He then reported the loss to the Public Security Police which is in charge of licensing firearms.
Lou told the police that the last time he saw the handgun and bullets were at his home in Avenida do Coronel Mesquita and that there had been no burglary.
