Registrations for the 15th intake of the Sands Procurement Academy kicked off yesterday and runs until September 6, being open to local small- and medium-sized enterprises (SME) “suppliers”, Sands China said in a statement.
The free training programme is organised by the integrated resort (IR) operator in conjunction with the Macao Chamber of Commerce (MCC) and the Macau Productivity and Technology Centre (CPTTM). It specifically targets the development of micro-enterprises, Macau young entrepreneurs, and “Made-in-Macau” enterprises, according to the statement.
The statement noted that the academy, which focuses on delivering practical knowledge to participants, has trained over 520 SMEs to date. The upcoming sessions will take place weekly from September 17 to October 15 at The Venetian Macao’s Adelson Advanced Education Centre in Cotai. Enrolment, the statement said, is capped at 40 participants.
Sands China Ltd. Procurement and Sustainability Vice President Charlie Cai said: “This is the eighth consecutive year we are offering the Sands Procurement Academy programme, aimed at equipping SMEs with a deeper understanding of international corporations’ standards and requirements. We are excited about this latest session of the academy, as we are debuting a new course on the Xiaohongshu (RED) Operations Strategy for Enterprises to share various influencer techniques to help SMEs stay current and improve their business”.
“Furthermore, a business matching session, where participants are able to meet some of Sands China’s procurement department buyers face-to-face, will help create potential future business opportunities for the SMEs”, Cai added.
The statement said that four other topics are covered, namely Macau labour law fundamentals, procurement process and system overview, supplier code of conduct, and procurement contract basics. Programme graduates can earn a completion certificate and receive preference for procurement opportunities with Sands China under otherwise equal circumstances.
Enrolment forms can be found on https://www.sandschina.com/the-company/sands-procurement-academy.html and sent to SME_Info@sands.com.mo on or before the deadline. A lucky draw will be held if applicants exceed the available capacity.
