Macau Special Olympics (MSO) Chief Executive Officer Hetzer Siu Yu Hong told reporters yesterday he believed that gaming operators play a “big role” in hiring people with intellectual disabilities.

Siu made the remarks on the sidelines of an event organised by Sands China at MSO’s Ngai Chun Services Complex at the Seac Pai Van housing estate in Coloane.

Siu stressed that gaming operators hire a good number of people with disabilities. He said that only corporations “have some drive and motivation to hire more people”, adding he thought that until now, we can see that only the gaming operators can hire a great number of people with disabilities.

Siu told reporters as far as MSO is concerned, it has over 10 people with intellectual disabilities who were employed by big companies this year.

“We hope that in the future, we have more support to get the people with intellectual disabilities on a career path and get a job”, Siu added.
