The Public Security Police (PSP) have moved their headquarters from Zape to the Zone E1 land reclamation area at Pac On in Taipa, according to a PSP statement yesterday.

The original headquarters in Zape, located on the corner of Avenida do Dr Rodrigo Rodrigues and Praceta de 1 de Outubro, continues to operate as a police station serving the area, which is also known as No.3 PSP station.

Construction of a complex comprising the new headquarters of the Public Security Police and their tactical unit in Zone E1, which got off the ground in 2021, was completed in January this year.

The police tactical unit, officially known as Special Police Unit, moved its headquarters from a site next to the Barrier Gate border checkpoint at the peninsula’s northern tip to the new complex in Zone E1 in late July.

The police had been planning to relocate their tactical unit from the Barrier Gate site for over a decade.

Yesterday’s statement said that different PSP departments have moved their offices from the original headquarters in Zape to the new one in Pac On in phases since early this month.

The Public Security Police also said in the statement that their respective phone numbers have remained unchanged.

The statement also said that residents submitting documents to the police have to visit the new headquarters.

The new PSP complex in Zone E1 is located next to the entrance and exit of the new and fourth sea-crossing bridge connecting the Macau peninsula and Taipa, officially named Macau Bridge, which the government is aiming to open before the end of this month.

Construction of the new PSP complex, which got off the ground in January 2021, was carried out for a price tag of 1.075 billion patacas.

According to the website of the Public Works Bureau (DSOP), the site where the new nine-storey complex is located covers about 7,000 square metres. The U-shaped complex comprising three buildings has a gross floor area of about 80,000 square metres. The complex also includes a two-storey underground car park.

According to the DSOP website, the complex has an operational command room, a 999-emergency hotline operational control centre, press conference rooms, multifunctional rooms, arms and ammunition storage rooms, detention cells, office spaces, and back-office equipment and devices for the police forces’ citywide CCTV camera system.

In addition to the new PSP complex in Zone E1, construction of the new headquarters of the Macau Customs Service was completed in September last year there. The two new buildings are located next to each other.

The Macau Customs Service is currently headquartered in Barra at the south-western tip of the Macau peninsula. The Customs Service is yet to announce when it will move its headquarters to its new building in Zone E1.

This undated handout photo released by the Public Security Police (PSP) yesterday shows their new headquarters in the Zone E1 land reclamation area. The complex also houses the police tactical unit’s new headquarters.
