The redemption period for the previously issued Rat, Ox, Tiger and Rabbit Zodiac banknotes will start next Monday at all participating banks, the Macau Monetary Authority (AMCM) said in a statement yesterday.
The period runs until December 6.
According to the statement, each registered Macau resident can redeem 15 notes each of the Rat, Ox, Tiger and Rabbit Zodiac banknotes, totalling 120 banknotes worth 1,200 patacas.
The redemption for the four banknotes from Macau’s two issuing banks (BOC and BNU) must be carried out in one go, with no provision for separate redemption of any type of the notes, the statement pointed out.
