The “2017 5th CCTV Chinese Lunar New Year Cup IBF World Championship” at the Venetian’s Cotai Arena was a celebration for the start of the Year of the Rooster on Sunday and Monday nights.
Local boxing hero Ng Kuok Kun aka The Macau Kid aka KK (10-0-0) started off the new lunar year with a win by beating Thai opponent Komsan Polsan (33-5-1) with a majority decision.
Also for the first time Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Alexis Tam Chon Weng attended KK’s fight and met him in his dressing room afterwards and promised to get in touch with KK to discuss possible government sponsorship.
