The Electoral Affairs Commission for the Chief Executive Election has officialy confirmed ex-judge Sam Hou Fai as the sole candidate for the chief executive election on October 13.
The commission has made the announcement in a notice released by the Macau Government Information Bureau (GCS) this morning.
The government-appointed commission had previously completed an eligibility review of the only application received for becoming a candidate for the post of chief executive, the notice pointed out, adding that, subsequently, it released on Wednesday a list containing the name of the accepted candidate for the chief executive election, as well as the list of members of the Chief Executive Election Committee that nominated him.
The Electoral Affairs Commission did not receive any objections within one day of announcing its decision on Sam's eligibility.
The list has been affixed on the ground floor of the Public Administration Building on Rua do Campo. It is also available on the Chief Executive Election website ( www.ece.gov.mo ).
Sam, 62, the former president of Macau's top court, the Court of Final Appeal (TUI), is slated to announce his election campaign manifesto on September 28.
