Economics Services Bureau (DSE) Director Tai Kin Ip says that his bureau is planning to require beneficiaries of the Youth Entrepreneurs Aid Scheme to enrol in a business start-up course.

Tai made the remarks in a reply to a written interpellation by directly-elected lawmaker Alan Ho Ion Sang. The copy of the reply was sent to the media yesterday.

The bureau launched the Youth Entrepreneurs Aid Scheme in 2013, offering up to 300,000 patacas in interest-free loans to applicants to be paid back over eight years. Local permanent residents aged from 21 to 44 who are starting a business for the first time are eligible to apply.

Ho submitted the written interpellation to the legislature in November last year.
