A variety of lanterns are on display at the Albergue SCM’s A2 Gallery on Calçada da Igreja de S. Lázaro, showcasing various works of a number of artists.

Titled “Little Rabbit Lanterns – An Exhibition by Carlos Marreiros and Friends – Part 19, Celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the People’s Republic of China”, the exhibition kicked off last Tuesday and is showcasing around 20 lanterns. It is organised by CAC - Círculo dos Amigos da Cultura de Macau (“Circle of the Friends of Macau’s Culture”) and is open until October 29, according to the group.

The exhibition’s opening event, the CAC Facebook page noted, was part of the programme of the “Celebration of the Moon – Mid-Autumn Festival 2024” party held at the Albergue SCM patio, which also featured a concurrent Mid-Autumn Festival Calligraphy Exhibition, free festive food and drink, as well as music performances, among others.

The free-admission rabbit lantern exhibition in the gallery is open from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Mondays, and from 12 noon to 8 p.m. the rest of the week. More details can be found on the group’s Facebook page.

Albergue is Portuguese for “hospice”. SCM stands for Santa Casa da Misericórdia (“Holy House of Mercy”), Macau’s oldest charitable organisation.
