A university student from the mainland has been arrested for separately cheating six mainland women in concert ticket scams, Judiciary Police (PJ) spokesman Cheong Kim Fong said during a regular press conference yesterday.
The suspect surnamed Song is in his twenties.
According to Cheong, in August, the six victims spoke with Song separately on social media. Song purported to be selling tickets for a concert at a Cotai hotel resort. Subsequently, the victims met Song in a Cotai hotel lobby, where they handed him from 2,700 to 3,400 patacas each with the promise of being escorted to the concert.
Song never showed up again and the victims lost contact with him, leading them to report their cases to the police.
Song was apprehended on Sunday upon re-entering Macau via the Hengqin checkpoint. Under questioning, he admitted to the crime.
Song has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP), facing fraud charges, according to Cheong.
