Macau Forum panellist Ron Lam U Tou, who heads the preparatory committee of the Macau Synergy Association, yesterday suggested the government set up facilities for pedestrians along the route from Rua de D. Belchior Carneiro to a car park for coaches under Praça do Tap Seac.

The government’s ban on tourist coaches picking up passengers along Rua de D. Belchior Carneiro – Kou Ün Kai in Cantonese – from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. took effect on Wednesday.

The government has suggested that tourists get on their coaches after visiting St Paul’s Ruins by walking down Rua de Dom Belchior Carneiro to the underground car park in Praça do Tap Seac.

The forum, which is held every Sunday in Areia Preta Park, is a weekly public debate programme run by government-owned broadcaster TDM. About two dozen audience members and five panellists attended yesterday’s forum.
