A local man has been accused of sexually harassing a female tourist while guiding her in a pose for a photo shoot, Public Security Police (PSP) spokesman Lei Chan Hong said during a regular press conference yesterday.

“The victim was walking along Estrada do Istmo (路氹連貫公路) in Cotai when she met the suspect, who saw her taking a selfie and asked to take her photo. The victim initially refused, but the suspect kept pestering her so that she eventually agreed to sit behind a nearby stone wall for a photo shoot when the suspect stroked her hands and feet on the pretext that he wanted to teach the victim how to pose for a photo. After that the victim ran away in a panic and called the police,” Lei quoted the victim as noting.

Lei identified the suspect as a local resident in his thirties, who told the police that he works as a bus driver, while the victim in her twenties is a mainlander.

According to Lei, the incident happened at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, while the Public Security Police, thanks to a hotel’s CCTV footage, arrested the suspect at 1 p.m. that day at his workplace nearby.

The suspect, surnamed Lei, who admitted to committing the offence, has been transferred to the Public Prosecutions Office (MP) for further investigation.

This undated handout photo provided by the Public Security Police (PSP) yesterday shows the local sexual harassment suspect being escorted by two police officers to a police station in Taipa.
