An 11-member delegation of overseas tourism office representatives based in Hong Kong recently took part in a fact-finding visit arranged by the Macau Government Tourism Office (MGTO) to Dong’ao Island and Guishan Island in Zhuhai, an MGTO statement said yesterday.
The visit took place on Friday and Saturday according to the statement.
The statement noted that the delegation was made up of overseas tourism offices’ representatives based in Hong Kong from Malaysia, Samoa, South Korea and Thailand, as well as MGTO’s representatives in Hong Kong.
The statement said that among those accompanying the delegates were Zhuhai Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau Deputy Director Jiang Ying and the deputy director of the Social Affairs Bureau of the Wanshan Marine Development Experimental Zone of Zhuhai, Yan Jing.
The Wanshan (“Ten Thousand Hills”) archipelago consists of 104 islands that are a part of Zhuhai City’s Xiangzhou District.
The statement said that the visits aimed to enable the participants to understand both islands’ cultural travel attractions, hotel facilities and the progress of major development projects, along with their tourism resources and outlook.
The visit, according to the statement, also aimed to encourage participants to “promote multi-destination island travel to Macau and Zhuhai in their own countries and showcase the shared strengths and appeal of tourism resources” in the Greater Bay Area (GBA) and tap into international markets.
