The local airport recorded 6.34 million passengers in the first 10 months of this year, a year-on-year increase of 56.92 percent, airport operator CAM has announced in a statement.
According to the statement on Friday, the local airport recorded 49,000 aircraft movements between January and October, a year-on-year increase of 49.37 percent.
According to the statement, the number of passengers and aircraft movements recorded during the first 10 months of this year returned to 80 and 78 percent of the levels recorded during the same period of pre-pandemic 2019, respectively.
In addition, the statement also said that at present, most passenger routes disrupted by the COVID-19 pandemic have been resumed, and some airlines serving the local airport have introduced wide-body aircraft to accommodate the rising passenger numbers.
The statement also said that the airport’s upcoming expansion and reclamation project is set to support its future growth and development, increasing its capacity to attract more airlines to serve Macau so that the city’s air passenger-route network would be expanded.
