Former and current students of the private Catholic University of Saint Joseph (USJ) are showcasing their creativity in a photography exhibition entitled “25” at the Creative Macau gallery, where each participant presents works of different themes in Macau.
The students are from the university’s Bachelor of Communication and Media programme, which according to its website was listed among the “Top Media & Mass Communication Colleges in Asia – 2024” by the magazine and portal Asia Education Review.
The exhibition features photos ranging from people in Macau going about their day, shots of Macau’s greenery and biodiversity to photos created through the creative use of lights. Those visiting the exhibition will find five sections: City of Life, City of Heritage, City of People, City of Light, and City of Nature. Each theme features a total of 25 pictures, with the university’s Department of Media, Art and Technology having sifted through their archives to curate the exhibits, according to a statement on the gallery’s website.
The statement added that the exhibition celebrates the city’s “vibrant essence” through different lenses and is being held in honour of the 25th Anniversary of Macau’s return to the motherland. “Each photo tells a story that reflects the spirit, creativity, and aspirations of a new generation and also serves as a platform for dialogue about identity, culture, and community sense of belonging in Macau today”, the statement noted.
The free-admission exhibition is open until November 30 and members of the public can visit it from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. from Monday to Saturday.
