BRASILIA – China is ready to work with Brazil as “golden partners” who help each other succeed, President Xi Jinping said yesterday in talks with Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in the capital Brasília.

In a meeting with Lula, Xi also said China is ready to work with Brazil to continually enrich China-Brazil relations in the new era, and keep working toward the goal of building a community with a shared future for humanity and creating a more just world and a more sustainable planet.

Xi Jinping also said that China-Brazil relations are at their best in history. He underlined that the two countries are increasingly becoming reliable friends with a shared future and positive forces for peace.

Xi Jinping also stressed that China and Brazil have found a right way for major developing countries to get along with each other, one that is based on mutual respect, mutual benefit and amity.

Xi pointed out that the two countries are two major developing countries in their respective hemispheres, adding that in the past 50 years, they enjoyed a relationship that transcends mountains and seas.

Xi and Lula da Silva decided during their meeting that China and Brazil will establish synergies between the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and Brazil’s development strategies.

Xi attended the 19th G20 Summit and held a number of bilateral talks on the sidelines of the summit from Sunday to Tuesday in Rio de Janeiro. He arrived in Brasília for a state visit yesterday.
