Integrated resort (IR) operator Wynn will again be presenting and sponsoring the International Series, with its second edition slated to take place at the Macau Golf & Country Club from March 20 to 23.
According to a recent joint statement, the event will be the date on a 10-tournament schedule, following next year’s LIV Golf Hong Kong (March 7-9) and LIV Golf Singapore (March 14-16). It is set to feature “stars from the LIV Golf League and the Asian Tour”, including this year’s inaugural event winner John Catlin from the US to defend his title.
The statement said that a prize purse of US$2 million (16.01 million patacas) is offered, along with “a pathway onto the LIV Golf League for the end-of-season rankings champion”.
The statement quoted President and Vice Chairman of the Board of Wynn Macau Limited Linda Chen Chih-ling as saying “This significant investment underlines our commitment to supporting the Macao SAR Government’s ‘1+4’ diversification development strategy, growing the sports industry, strengthening the city’s position as a World Centre of Tourism and Leisure and ensuring Macau remains a premier destination for golf enthusiasts for years to come.”
Head of The International Series Rahul Singh was quoted as saying that following the inaugural event’s success, “We are thrilled to bring The International Series back to Macau – a pivotal market for us and an integral stop on the season’s calendar which brings our brand of world-class golf to new territories and some of our favourite destinations”.
Moreover, Asian Tour Commissioner & CEO Cho Minn Thant added: “Our return as part of The International Series underscores the remarkable growth and evolution of the Tour, as we continue to elevate the standard of golf across the region”.
The statement added that the fourth season also sees five new destinations, which includes the International Series India presented by DLF, and a return to five established markets such as the International Series Morocco, the BNI Indonesian Masters and the Link Hong Kong Open. The season-ending PIF Saudi International powered by SoftBank Investment Advisers is also set to take place.
