Wonder what to do with the pile of old textbooks that you don’t need anymore? Or that phonebook that’s been sitting on the shelf? Or what about that old paperback that’s falling apart? Instead of throwing them out, why not upcycle those used books and turn them into your own piece of art?

Leong Fei In, who graduated with a master’s degree in Visual Arts: Book Arts in London, will be introducing the idea of book art to people taking part in the “Book + Art Creation Experience” workshop organised by the Macau Museum of Art (MAM) for its members this weekend.

As a book lover who has a bachelor’s degree in Literature, Leong said she was not advocating people destroy books in the name of art but rather to appreciate old books as a source of inspiration for art and a medium for artistic expression.
