A themed night market is set to take place at Lisboeta Macau in Cotai from December 24, Christmas Eve, to 29.

Open from 4 p.m. to midnight during the period, the six-day event, entitled “Noite Lisboeta – the Night Market with the Most Macanese”*, will take place at the leisure complex’s “Macau Palace Piazza” and “Old Macau Street” and comprises four core elements: Eat, Play, Pet and Fun, according to a Lisboeta Macau statement provided yesterday.

“Noite Lisboeta translated from Portuguese means “Lisboner Night”.

Customarily, the term “Macanese” refers to Macau’s community of mixed Portuguese and Asian descent, as well as their diaspora, accounting for less than 2.0 percent of the population.

Food stalls, carnival games, and live music performances will be held throughout the event, which is set to offer a “memorable festive atmosphere with Macanese-Portuguese vibes”, the statement said. Moreover, the night market will feature a pet-friendly zone to enable participants to “share joyful moments with their furry friends”.

The statement added that the night market also aims to leverage “the synergies of the ‘Macao Outdoor Performance Venue’, stimulating community economic development and immersing visitors in a distinctive blend of traditional culture and modern innovation, showcasing the essence of Macanese and Portuguese inspired culture, further enhancing Macau’s night economy”.

*In Chinese, the night market event is called “夜葡天地 – 「最有澳門FEEL嘅夜市”, which directly translated means “Night Port – The Night Market with the most Macau FEEL”.
