CE visits Guangzhou for joint conference, Raymond Tam serving as acting CE

Chief Executive Sam Hou Fai is leading today a delegation to the Guangdong-Macau Cooperation Joint Conference 2025 in Guangzhou, during which Secretary for Transport and Public Works Raymond Tam Wai Man is serving as acting chief executive.

The announcement was made in a statement by the Government Information Bureau (GCS) on Tuesday.

According to the statement, co-chaired by Sam and Guangdong Governor Wang Weizhong, the one-day meeting will carry out an in-depth study in order to ensure the comprehensive implementation of President Xi Jinping’s important speeches and instructions to “pragmatically promote various cooperation measures between Guangdong and Macau, and advance the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area (GBA) in its new phase”. The statement added that the two governments will sign several cooperation agreements during the meeting.

The statement listed the members of the delegation as Secretary for Administration and Justice André Cheong Weng Chon, Secretary for Economy and Finance Tai Kin Ip, Secretary for Security Wong Sio Chak, Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture Wallis O Lam, Unitary Police Service (SPU) Commissioner-General Leong Man Cheong, and Sam’s chief-of-cabinet Chan Kak.

The delegation will return to Macau later today, the statement noted.
