A 59-year-old woman from the mainland was hit by a car on Tuesday night on a zebra crossing near Ponte 16, and died yesterday morning from serious head injuries, a Public Security Police (PSP) spokesperson said yesterday.
The spokesperson urged witnesses to the accident to contact the police.According to the spokesperson, the woman was reportedly walking across the zebra crossing in Rua do Visconde Paço de Arcos at about 11 p.m. when the accident happened. The car was being driven from Patane to the central district.
The woman was unconscious when she was taken to the public Conde de Sao Januario Hospital Centre (CHCSJ), and died at around 5 a.m. from serious head injuries.
