Over 100 participants took part in yesterday’s CPR/AED training session at the Pou Tai Senior Citizen Support Services Complex in Taipa, according to a statement by the Rotary International District 3450.
CPR stands for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), while AED stands for automated external defibrillator.
The session was organised by the district in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Oriental Pearl Macau and St. John Ambulance Hong Kong. It comprised participants from local clubs and service organisations.
The statement said that a full-day certificate course is offered by the Hong Kong St. John Ambulance, with the over 100 participants to receive “the Hong Kong St. John Ambulance Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Automated External Defibrillator Certificate” after its completion.
The certificate is valid for three years, the statement said.
During yesterday’s opening ceremony, the statement said that Health Bureau (SSM) Director Alvis Lo Iek Long praised the project and noted it would help improve the community’s health. He also stressed the importance of spreading knowledge about CPR and automated external defibrillators to save lives.
