The Macau Tower* CNY Charity Walk 2025 was held on Friday, the third day of the Chinese New Year (CNY), with the event gathering over 2,300 participants to tackle the 1,298 stairs to the tower’s 61st floor.

According to a Friday statement from the Macau Tower Convention & Entertainment Centre, the event launched in 2009 has seen over 20,000 participants in total taking part over the years. It is a joint effort to extend good will to Macau in the Chinese New Year (CNY), according to the statement, and also aims to raise funds for the Macau Red Cross.

The statement said that the event was divided into the full-course “Strike it Rich” challenge in the morning, while the half-course “Shortcut to Riches”, which started on the 38th floor, was held in the afternoon.

The full course kicked off from the ground floor and ended on the 61st floor, with the statement noting that around 600 participants climbed 1,298 steps and competed to be the fastest “tower climbers”. The men’s category was won by Wong Kwok Wa, who finished the climb in 9 minutes and 18 seconds, while the champion of the female category, Yeung Man Kiu, secured a win at 11 minutes and 21 seconds. The Junior Category’s champion was Lai Kin Seng, who completed the climb in 9 minutes and 59 seconds.

Macau Tower Executive Manager Francis Lam (林柱光) noted in the statement that the charity event has become a traditional occasion during the Chinese New Year in Macau and thanked everyone for their support and participation.
